Craig S. Sternberg

Craig Sternberg is a native of Washington. His practice focuses on counseling and representing creditors and debtors in Bankruptcy and reorganization; counseling businesses in the formation and maintenance of business entities; representing parties to commercial real estate transactions and commercial litigation and arbitrations matters since 1970.

Craig has counseled and represented Debtors in Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy cases as well as Debtors in Possession and creditor committees in Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Reorganizations, and Receivers State Court Receiverships. Among other things, he has successfully reorganized a furniture retailer, a Fix Base (Airport) Operator, a manufacturer of baby strollers and a food processor's real estate operations. He also represents secured and unsecured creditors in all Bankruptcy Cases. He regularly appears in Bankruptcy Courts in the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, and has handled matters in state, federal and bankruptcy courts in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia and Maryland.

He represents a major national credit counseling agency in a significant national class arbitration based on the Federal Credit Repair Organization and other federal and state debt management and consumer protection statutes in the American Arbitration Association. He also has represented clients in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association, Judicial Disputes Resolutions, JAMS and private arbitrations and mediations. He is a Mediator in King County Superior Court.

Just one year out of law school, Craig sued the University of Washington's Law School in a reverse discrimination case which went to the Supreme Court. His client, who was admitted to under a court order, finished law school and became a lawyer. In 2000 and 2001 he was in-house general counsel to a venture capital firm and an "internet incubator."

Mr. Sternberg is a past Chair of the Mandatory Continuing Education Board of the Washington State Bar Association. He was the first editor of the Washington State Bar Association's Creditor/Debtor Section Newsletter and has served on several Bar committees. He has been a lecturer in bankruptcy for continuing legal education. Mr. Sternberg is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and is "AV" (highest) rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell.

Mr. Sternberg resides with his wife in Clyde Hill where he has served as a member and Chair of Clyde Hill's Town Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment. He is also active in his community and currently serves as the President of the Washington State Jewish Historical Society. He has served as the President of Herzl Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation and other community organizations.
